What would help right now?
Begin with Psalm 56, which speaks from within fear. If your fear relates to a real threat, prioritise safety and the support options below.
Scripture & a little space to reflect
Read the words.
Stay with a thought.
Start with Psalm 56:3–4. The Scripture is here to read straight away; the reflections beneath it are optional.

From reading to real life
Name the fear.
Choose a supported step.
Name what is happening, identify safe support, or say the fear aloud. You are not being asked to ignore danger.
A prayer within fearWhat is happening, and what do you fear?
Fear may relate to something happening now, or to uncertainty about what might happen. You can name both honestly without asking yourself to pretend that everything is fine.
“What is happening now is… What I fear is…”
What do you know, what do you not yet know, and who could help you understand the situation more clearly?
Choose a safe, supported next step.
Talk through a worry with someone grounded and trustworthy. If there is a real safety concern, prioritise getting help.
“The support I need for this is…”
This reflection is not a reason to ignore danger. If there is an immediate threat, prioritise safety and contact local emergency services.
Talk with someone grounded and trustworthy.
A grounded, trustworthy person can help you distinguish the facts you know from the uncertainties you face. If someone is threatening or harming you, choose specialist support rather than confronting them through this exercise.
“Could we talk through something that is frightening me and work out a safe, supported next step?”

Darvie Fenison
A verse he returned to under pressure
Darvie recalls turning to Isaiah 26:3 before a difficult church meeting. He describes the meaning of that passage in his own life, not a promise that fear will disappear.

If fear is repeatedly affecting everyday life, a GP or qualified mental-health professional can help. If you are responding to an actual threat, getting safe support matters more than completing a reflection.
