From reading to real life
A little connection.
A place to begin.
Remember a moment of connection, make one invitation, or name the company you would value. One step is enough.
A prayer for safe connectionWhere have you felt a little at ease?
Loneliness can be present even when there are people around. Rather than judging the size of your social circle, consider where you have felt heard, included or able to be yourself.
“I feel most at ease when…”
It might have been with one person, in a small group, or during a shared activity. What made that moment feel different?
Make one small invitation.
Consider sending one simple message to someone safe: “Would you have time for a chat this week?”
“Would you have time for a chat this week?”
Choose someone safe and approachable. Their availability does not measure your worth; you can try another time or another connection.
Ask for the kind of company you need.
You might want a conversation, a shared activity or someone to join you at a new group. A clear invitation gives the other person something practical to respond to.
“I’d really like some company. Would you be up for a coffee, a walk or a phone call this week?”

More than one way to connect.
A regular group, shared interest or community activity can be one place to meet people. If loneliness is affecting your wellbeing, you can also speak with a GP or counsellor about support that fits your situation.
Connection may take time. Someone’s availability is not a measure of your worth.
